How To Make Vietnamese Coffee

Everyone agrees that Vietnamese coffee is pretty darn good. And though the amount of sugar, caffeine, and the process don't lend to it being your go to coffee option, it's a nice thing to have on a Sunday afternoon.

One other thing - screwing down (or clamping down) the press a bit tighter makes for a stronger brew. It causes the water to sit on the grounds and "steep" like in a French Press.

It takes a bit longer but makes more robust coffee. I reccomend the clamp type filters over the screw down types, as coffee grounds often get pressed into the threads and keep you from being able to tighten the filter down. It can be difficult to ream out the clogged grounds. I use a toothpick and hot water. Enjoy!

Very informative to the newbie. Trung-Nguyen is the best. BUT! The true secret to super coffee is not shown on any video,

The secret ingredient is a teaspoon of Beurre Demi Sel, or French, lightly salted butter, melted in with the sweetened condensed milk. It is available at your Vietnamese store right with the coffee and the filters. If butter in your coffee sounds nuts - try it, you'll love it!

Nice Vid. The instructions on the coffee says 3 teaspoons. I really like this coffee when I have to work late at night. It is easy to make and it is really strong stuff.
