We got this as a gift for our daughter from Discovery Kids Insect Lore and I gotta' say it was worth every penny. Our daughter witnessed this miracle and she thinks its just the coolest thing in the world. It came with 5 larvaes and I was persistent and lucky enough to catch the last one hatch. The other 4 hatched so quick that we missed it and you'll see it in the video how fast they come out.

Camera used was a 99 dollar HD Video Camera HDV178 that we got from Walmart before Christmas. Not bad for a cheap camera! :)

  • Thanks for the video! I have 10 butterflies right now and missed all of them hatch. We have several more waiting so maybe my class will get to see one hatch.

  • @buttermerans oooo that is sad

  • my butterfly hacted today!

  • i got 5 of those and only one survived i was so sad

  • Thanks for this-- we just hatched 6 of these, but somehow we missed every single one! They are fast (and sneaky!) little buggers! For one, we literally left the room for about 10 minutes, and when we came back, there it was! :) Amazing to watch!

  • @andimabouttobreak hiya yeah ive had to keep 1 as his wing is damaged poor wee thing likes banana and pineapple even had his tounge in watermelon lol

  • @shonaky Thanks. =3 He made his way out but his wing is severely deformed. I won't be releasing that little guy into the wild.

  • @andimabouttobreak hiya all mine did that and i have 3 out of 5 came out today and i have another tryin its hardest rightnow tryin to get out there all fine hope that helps

  • I was wondering about the fact that the chrysalis was on some paper towel- did it fall after it made the chrysalis? I'm asking because I have a chrysalis at the moment that the caterpillar was knocked down when it was hanging to make the chrysalis and formed it's chrysalis on the ground and I'm wondering what it's chances of transforming actually are.

  • i think it's pretty confused by the linoleum and surfaces that aren't natural to her basic instinct
