@oceanjockey1000 If they had primed the oil system and the fact that it is being started at room temperature (20C), it's fine to rev it...

I remember my days @ Universal Technical Institute. The Diesel pad and runaways. Where is the guys clipboard? This brings back great memories.

Not too smart immediately running up the rpm after a cold start and fresh rebuilt. You just took some life out of that motor.
-
My word now that is one immaculate restoration - splendid job.

I love that sound!

@SittingMooseShaman You're right on so many levels. Just to really hack the greenies off, it's not repairing, it's RECYCLING.. i.e reusing of old components. They just love that as what's more environmentally concious than recycling? :)

@jstett1 "Six in a row cummins > v6 bullshit"?????
Oh, really? Here's a 4-cylinder Detroit dragging a 1st gen Cummins, and there are plenty of other vids out there of this blue Ford dragging other diesels around. Better watch what you say on a Detroit video, bud.... somebody might just call you out on your needless hating.....

Six in a row cummins > v6 bullshit
@ santapaella...about $2500 per hole. So, complete teardown, cleaning, painting, blue marine hose, stainless clamps, new cylinder kit, new blower, intercooler, and turbo = $15,000
@ marleycake...6V92 indicates 6 cylinders, V so V6, 92 (92 cubic inches per cylinder) Holds true for any Detroit ie. 4V53 (V4 with 53 ci per cylinder) 12V71 (V12 with 71 ci per cylinder...basically 2 6V71s end -to-end)
