The tenor at York is not the heaviest bell rung in the country. Emmanuel at Liverpool is the heaviest bell rung full circle in a change ringing peal - not just in the country but in the world.

When you say 'heaviest bell still rung by hand' are you refering to Great Peter, which weighs in at about 10 tons?

Isn't Exeter still the heaviest ring? ie total weight. And is York still Pansy Potter country?

@louisisyourgod When you say SMLT, I think you mean St Mary LYDIARD TREGOZE - I always refer to it as LT!!

Of course, you mean St Mary le Tower, dont you...
