Tried to channel a crummy day into a new PR. Didn't work so well.

  • @mrodock "Pernicious...". I like it!

  • Eat, sleep, and recover. Then smoke that weight at the Arnold!

  • @mrodock 606 is the third attempt at the Arnold. That will be a meet PR. Somewhere around year two in this sport my PR's were no longer being set on the platform. As you know, gym PR's are set under "laboratory" conditions on the day you feel good, and usually with no other heavy lifting or cutting weight. Meet day is meet day whether you feel good or not, and whether you dropped 10 pounds the prior week, and the deadlift is after maxing out on SQ and BP.

  • @rhsalaska But I *will* smoke this weight someday. Once upon a time (about 2 years ago), 550 was my max DL, and look how easy it went up here.

  • @rhsalaska Absolutely! And yes that is very good progress.

  • @rhsalaska Yes I definitely understand! I'm starting to find that training very close to my competition weight is eliminating a very pernicious variable.
