Maybe he should also say what NO ONE that's really made it in the industry dares to say. It's all about WHO YOU KNOW! There are plenty of beatmakers that aren't even caliber producers that are making a great living off of major label projects, with "average beats", simply because of connections! That's the truth. If it were all about talent and skills, myself and plenty of others I know would be doing it full time by now. Don't kid yourself. Having skills doesn't guarantee success. Hook-ups do!

"You should be able to... to... communicate. You know?"
Guess not.

hes right its a full time deal, constantly learning new technology, new software, new techniques and keeping your productions up to scratch with todays modern constantly developing high standard of production level, its not something you can do in your spare time if you want to make it as a serious producer in todays industry and theres a reason why top producers get paid so much because they dedicate to it and fair dos to them for getting to that standard and that well deserved recognition

@AlSween I agree with you 100%, the problem in the industry is that there are too many beatmakers who have no idea about how to read music, that they somehow want credit for being a producer. YOU ARE NOT PRODUCERS!......YOU ARE BEATMAKERS!

lol all he knows is he's rich as fuck... there is no secret this shit is pure grind aswell as quantity and quality.

"Know That Music Its Not a Job, Its a Passion and a Vocation, You Couldn't Do it Part Time".....Good Advice Jimmy.

@kdsf12 if you can hear that, just after reading this, you don't need mister everlast crotch protector.

Wow. This was bullshit. I know something that will beat all that he was talking about... which was basically nothing. Learn inner ear. Learn arrangement without hearing it. In other words, if you know every pitch without sitting at a keyboard -and just hearing it in your head, being able to write it down when you get home from starbucks- off you go. Hear this: Tam-tam with a wooden stick, F on Double bass (pizz) a french horn and a viola section, harmonics.

WOW! Jimmy has a that 90's mentality. The music industry has changed, the way the game is played is completely different today - i do have to tip my hat to the greats but this is a time for the new generation of producers to show up - and there are a lot of amazing producers out there doing absolutely amazing things. It would help if he acted like he actually cared though -

It was good advice. Quality of music would be better if non-musicians would stop trying to make music *shrugs*
