UFO Sighting in Yosemite Park near Area 51

The story of the person that took this video:


I went on a trip to Yosemite Park in 2002. Yosemite Park is very close to the border between California and Nevada, and close to Area 51. In the evening, on my way out of the park, I was driving down a winding road, when I saw a small ball of light high up in the sky, with a large halo of light surrounding it, and a long twirled trail behind it. I video taped it for a few seconds, and then I grapped my camera to take some photos as well, in case the video camera didn't capture it well enough. Unfortunately it was too dark for the photo camera, so the pictures didn't come out. All I have is the video I took before and after I took the photos.

The ball of light with the huge halo moved across the sky, leaving a trail. After about 2 minutes the ball of light disappeared, and only the trail remained. The trail was illuminated and still brightly visible even when the surrounding sky was already pitch black.

A few minutes later several Air Force jets appeared and circled in the sky where the light had disappeared.

Hate to burst everyone's bubble, but this is a test missile launched from Edwards Air Force Base. I'm from Fresno which is right outside of Yosemite and they launch missiles every so often. Although not a UFO, they are very cool to watch in real life.

Oh, but I can't quite explain why the trail is glowing, unless it's like those high-altitude clouds we've been seeing (noctilucent clouds at the edge of space) - i.e. my theory being that the aircraft is high enough that the trails are lit by the sun.

Thats not a rocket cause rockets dont leave that long of a trail behind them.

@bigwl3 Pretty sic!!! Man I wish I got to live in the United States. Nothing much like that happens over here. We only see the RAAF FA18 Superhornets fly past! Or the F-111 dump and burn.

@Tilan123 They're shot out over the ocean but they usually blow up/disintegrate in mid air somewhere over the pacific.

I think it's a contrail and you can see the sun is setting or rising and since it';s high in the sky the sun is reflecting off the contrail. We see this all the time in Seattle. When the sun is setting.
