Zechariah 12:10 - "Pierced him" or "Pierced me?"

Jewish and Christian translations of Zechariah 12:10 are very different. The Jewish JPS reads; "and they shall look unto Me because they have thrust him through" and the Christian KJV translation reads; "and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced." In order to determine the correct translation we will need to take a close look at the structure of the verse.

Rabbis viewed this verse as messianic. See the Talmud in Succah 52a.
"Why is this mourning in Messianic times? ... It is well according to him who explains that the cause is the slaying of the Messiah since that well agrees with this verse. If it refers to the slaying of the evil inclination, it must be asked, is this an occasion for mourning? Is it not rather an occasion for rejoicing? Why then should they weep?"

This is the Hebrew of the verse: וְשָׁפַכְתִּי עַל־בֵּית דָּוִיד וְעַל יוֹשֵׁב יְרוּשָׁלַםִ רוּחַ חֵן וְתַחֲנוּנִים וְהִבִּיטוּ אֵלַי אֵת אֲשֶׁר־דָּקָרוּ וְסָפְדוּ עָלָיו כְּמִסְפֵּד עַל־הַיָּחִיד וְהָמֵר עָלָיו כְּהָמֵר עַל־הַבְּכוֹר׃
This is how I read it: "I will pour out on the house of David and on the residents of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and of supplications, and they will look to me - the one whom they pierced."

@GeneralHanSolo The only problem with your translation is that it ignores the Hebrew word את (et), which drastically changes who the "one" is in "the one whom they pierced." Other than that it is a fair translation.

@ancienthebreworg I do think your understanding of this text is correct.Is there any other Hebrew scriptures /verses that use " אֵ ת " in a syntax to compare with Zechariah12:10,? It would be interesting to find out. :)

@siicpaxsheechpaw There are a number of examples that are similar to this verse, one such example is Gen 18:19.
