Alan Wilson Watts was a British philosopher, writer, speaker, and student of comparative religion. He was best known as an interpreter and popularizer of Asian philosophies for a Western audience.

He wrote more than 25 books and numerous articles on subjects such as personal identity, the true nature of reality, higher consciousness, meaning of life, concepts and images of God and the non-material pursuit of happiness. In his books he relates his experience to scientific knowledge and to the teachings of Eastern and Western religion and philosophy.

  • To add to it is to complicate and mask it

To subtract from it is to simplify and deduce it

    Disguised, it reveals itself

    Exposed, it conceals itself

To mask it is to complicate it

To presume it is to simplify it

    Not adding, it remains consistent

    Not subtracting, it remains consistent

  • Each person needs to look to their own spiritual health instead of finding fault with the way others choose to deal with theirs.

  • I AGREE WITH YOU TOTALLY !!!!!!!....A NEW FASHIONABLE WAY TO MAKE YOU SUFFER TO GET THE HEAVEN... LOSE YOUR SOUL !!!!!!!!!!.... very stupid

  • This is all exactly what I have come up with. I have neve runderstood superficial theists, they have made no sense, but it does not automatically lead to total abandonment of wisdom etc, like more than a few atheists are willing to do without question. I have always wanted to know more, and I have had to do it myself, sicne noone has ever taught me realisstically. It is good to have osmeone reinforce my thoughts so I can feel more at ease with them.

  • @thymegadeth : Nietzsche
