For nearly four decades, igloo-like fiberglass domes have been home to hundreds of UC Davis students. These alternative homes provides a place for eco-conscous students to make all their own decisions -- they eat together and do their own maintenance. NewsWatch 2007
It wasn't so eco-conscious when I helped build the domes in the summer of 1972. The students involved were inclined toward construction work, or at least they tolerated it. And the place was a mess during the fall of 1972, muddy, with incomplete interior construction. Some did not have water for a few weeks into the fall quarter, and some moved out because, I suspect, it was too much to juggle dome building and school work. The dome builders were a hardy lot, but not exactly eco-friendly.

Dang. They kind of look and act like hippies, if you don't mind me saying, and the place looks like a mess. That's just my opinion.
