This is my 10-year-old son with autism. He's attempting to explain his pain over his difficulty with friendships. We are currently studying play therapy techniques. Anyone with any info. about strategies and ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :o)

  • He is so adorable! It's so cute to hear him talk (this coming from a mom with a son who does not talk).

  • @prettyfinds Thank you. :o) That was a very tough day. We have our good days and bad days. Today after a 2 hour car ride he screamed out "My butt is so hard I can't fart that easy!". So there's that!! How old is your little guy? I'm sorry he has no speech. It's tricky enough to communicate with them when they DO have speech. I wish you all the best. :)

  • This was a good video. My son 6 yrs is Aspergers/Autistic. We have him in a social skills group that uses Michelle Garcia Winners "Unthinkables" circulum. My son responds to it really well and I think your son would benefit from it too. She has made up different good/bad superheros that help explain and different behaviors and how to respond to them. I also use social stories and guided playdates.

It's not easy but you are doing a great job, keep it up.

  • Oh my goodness! Thank yo so much! I will look into the "Unthinkables" curriculum, it sounds fantastic. Thanks so much for the suggestion. :o)

  • I agree. Michelle Garcia Winnner is awesome. I just went to her conference to help my son. Her website is Social Thinking.

  • This is my favorite! You tell 'em, Anthony!

  • Roools smooles!!

  • He is so adorable! Very dramatic.. :)

Sounds like Michael hurt his feelings, so your son's anger is totally understandable...

  • LMAO Man, he's fanny!

  • Michael If you are watching this. I just wanna let you know I'm gonna kill you! Lol

  • Sorry I missed this post. Thank you for your positive feedback. He's actually in a new school and doing quite a bit better. Still a day-to-day struggle, but we're using social stories, and that's helping to remind Anthony of how to respond and regroup. :o)
