In the Sweet Bye and Bye - New Black Eagles/Ogilvie 1987
New Black Eagles 1987
This was a weekend when the New Black Eagle Jazz Band was celebrating their 15th anniversary. Our Climax Jazz Band was invited to Boston to help celebrate. On the evening before the Eagles played a concert and I had my new Sony video 8 camera and was able to film part of this concert. This video has been on the shelf for 21 years and I'm bringing you some clips from this outstanding New Orleans styled band.
Special guest for this concert was clarinettist Brian Ogilvie.
In the band are leader Tony Pringle cornet, Stan Vincent trombone, Bob Pilsbury piano, Peter Bullis banjo, Eli Newberger tuba and Pam Pameijer drums.
To me this is the very best band of traditional New Orleans styled jazz in North America.
Heard this fine band at Ayer,MA and they generously played Lily of the Valley, despite the fact they hadn't played it for donkey's years. Thanks guys! Our 6-year-old twin grankids even danced to it! Who said the kids of today don't like jazz.NOrleans jazz will live for ever

My favorite band since I first heard them at the Scotch Mist on the Mohawk Trail in Greenfield in the 70s. Throw away your antidepressants and turn up the Black Eagles. All will be right with the world.

Nice one Bob, just the right tempo, played in the true N.O. style.
