  • my father flew in SQN 254 he was awarded the dfc and bar.A quiet hero. He flew 32 sorties. I still have his flying jacket and hat....I would like to honor him. JAMES R.HUGHES his navigator was William Benneworth

  • my father James R. Hughes was in 254 DFC and Bar his navigator was W.Benniworth he flew 32 sorties. Did you know him?

  • My first posting as a Snowdrop in 1984 was North Cotes. You could almost feel the presence of these Airmen and Women when patrolling the then dissused airfield.

  • My dad flew Mosquitoes and Beaufighters. I am doing a book on WWII pilots (photos plus life story) and I am keen to get in touch with any pilots from that time, I have interviewed and photographed 15 WWII pilots including some famous guys like Gunther Rall, so please get in touch if you know anyone. Best regards John Martin Bradley - John Bradley Photography

  • My Father now 92 served in the RAF Posted in Malta. They had a number of Beaufighters there. They went out at night to destroy Nazi oil tankers going to North Africa. Rommel ran eventually out of petrol, Also Known as the Tank Buster.

  • Surely the thing that must strike you [pardon the pun] is the sheer beauty and simplicity of the design of both these aircraft, a joy to look at, sadly missing in so many modern day aircraft, wonderful.

  • great plane

  • also known by the japanese as "the whispering death" i seem to recall

  • Surely the Bristol Beaufighter was well armed, but there was two german planes was still more armed than it: a bomber destroyer Me-410 version, with a 50mm,two 30mm,two 20mm, two 13,2mm guns and four 210mm rockets, and He-219 Owl night fighter, with six 30mm and two 20mm guns. With so heavy guns, these german fighters could shot down almost anything in the skies,as was done by Beaufighter too.
