You can use a PB12 as a synth brain with Reason 4 maybe 5, just another purpose idea.
I love this PowerBook, I owned two. The size was fantastic, but in my case, even maxed with RAM it just can't handle HD video and gets a bit hot. I didn't upgrade the HD so I'm sure a 7200 would make it a bit more zippy.

Just for testing and learning on, but can a PB12 run Mac OS X Leopard SERVER?
-
Western Digital Scorpio Black 250 GB for the harddrive and 1,25 GB the RAM and you have the very best PB G4 12"
-
i think so... But i recommend using 1,25 GB RAM for Leopard

Does it run Mac OS X 10.5.8 properly?

No, not really. It's for office, surfing etc. but you could watch dvd with it etc.
It could run some ppc games, too.. but nothing that needs graphic power or cpu power as it only got 1250 mhz (or 1500)...
But you can compare the CPU with a pentium 4 @ 2 ghz (or maybe more). It's just a nice small notebook but I think today there's not much space left cause no new software is programmed for it.. like office 2007 etc.

whao it responds pretty fast

it has a ppc processor and there is a translated version of gta sa for os x but i dont think it will play on a ppc
the screen isn't very bright. I've got a 12" PB 1.5Ghz model, and mine is very dull in comparison to my LED backlit 2.5Ghz MBP.
