  • I can't get over how talented Ray truly is. I seriously don't understand. I don't think I've heard a song he does in his last four albums that isn't profoundly rich with meaning and incredibly evocative. Am I over reacting or is this guys pretty well the most authentic and compelling musician currently performing?

  • live version is even better than the original, if that is at all possible.

  • @akj375 i totaly agree, i saw him in the uk a few years ago and he was ace, a bit shy played in the round, its nice to see him come forward as a frontman. he is where its at for me x

  • @whenturtlesfly fucken true!

  • Gotta get outta Elm city Son..Elm City's KILLING ME>

  • F-ing Modern day Paul Simon! He kills my soul.

  • @whenturtlesfly - its possible. I saw him play live 7 days after this video recording. That's my second time hearing him live. The first time it was totally unexpected that his voice would bring me to tears (and I'm no bawler)....but he's absolutely outstanding and there is just something about the heart he brings to his music. Truly worth seeing live everytime......Thanks for the music Ray.

  • his songs just have so much character and texture, just like his voice. Hes such an incredible musician.

  • its amazing what a great songwriter can do with three chords and a story, this guy is as good as it

    gets right now, fucking brilliant

  • oops. I was a bit loaded and my previous post sounds unbelievably pretentious. sorry about that. Authentic & compelling are the best words to describe Ray Lamontagne as akj375 already said..

  • Agree with akj375. First saw Ray on Elvis Costellos' show. I am no musician, but I am an artist and I went to school with musicians. I follow all music, and research the roots and follow that. "Where it all begins" type of stuff. I like heavy, deep, real stuff. Howlin' Wolf, Dylan, Allman Brothers, Prine, Merle, ...you know what I mean. The Band, Neil, Tom Waits, and all of their influences. Screamin Jay Hawkins. But this guy takes the fucking cake. He is unbelievable.

  • I don't think I have ever heard a more haunting peddle steel. Who is that player???
