For all you who were diggin' George's last video, here's something which demonstrates Systema at normal speed with some slow motion. For more info, you can go to his website RussianWarriorMartialArt.com. BTW, George wants to thank everyone for checking out the last video and glad that everyone realizes it was sped-up - if you don't have a sense of humor, tough luck! But now, this video is all business and there will be more.

Anyone here remember the first UFC? They took dirreent systems and put them against each other. Now the UFC is just MMA involving Muay Thai and BJJ. I wish there was a forum for Systema, Aikido, Gung Fu and other exotic systems. I guess UFC solidified that MT and BJJ are pretty much the top of the food chain in martial arts, but I'd love to see a systema and krav maga fight only to see the effectiveness of their diferences and to see whether or not it would revert to basic kickboxing and BJJ
The UFC isn't just MT and BJJ. Those are the most common striking and grappling arts, but plenty of guys still use American style wrestling, Greko, Boxing, and Karate. Hell, the 205 champion is a Karate grand master.
Totally agree, I cross train in MMa and Systema, MMa because i like BJJ, and Thai Boxing, Systema for it's unpredicability, and for the street fighting aspect. The way that Vladimir and his instructors hit and move, is unbelievable, usually in the striking arts u have to hit relatively hard to hurt someone. In Systema, they just tap u and your whole body feels like it's going to shut down. Alot of people who have never trained in systema say oh they move so slow, that's so noone gets hurt.
This instructor combines some systema with trapping and aikido movements. I wish he would've showed the moves in real time. Anyone who trains, or knows about fighting, can tell these are defenses against street attacks, where the assailiant usually throws a haymaker, or grabs u. A trained fighter will come at u with combinations, feints etc. Great stuff though someone who is expierenced in fighting can add some of these techniques to their arsenal. Not so easy for the novice or untrained.
1- i really dont get why the guy was slapping the attacker's hand three times before going for the face
2- All the throws are already in aikido, with one little difference: They're more efficient in aikido! IF, and i really mean IF, you want to go for locks and throws without hitting the guy first, why spin around 30 times before actually damaging him?
1. Its usually used to indicate a more damaging move (like a strike that would shatter the smaller, fragile bones in the hand) that they don't actually want to do in sparring.
2. Most of the Systema moves aren't based on learning throws, they're about reacting instinctually. Disadvantages include exactly what you're talking about. The throws aren't as precise or efficient. Advantages though, are things like flexibility and adaptability. You're not confined to reactive actions like most systems.
I doubt this "Systemas" combat effectiveness...it might be ok for bar fights or some shit but I want to see the attacker think and go for a second or third move or maybe a block something...Ill keep what Ive got, the Russians can have this shit...

"i might not agree with what you say but i will die fighting for the right for you to say it"
