Richard Dawkins: Faith School Menace? (2 of 4)

The number of faith schools in Britain is rising. Around 7,000 publicly funded schools - one in three - now has a religious affiliation.

As the coalition government paves the way for more faith-based education by promoting 'free schools', the renowned atheist and evolutionary biologist Professor Richard Dawkins says enough is enough.

In this passionately argued film, Dawkins calls on us to reconsider the consequences of faith education, which, he argues, bamboozles parents and indoctrinates and divides children.

The film features robust exchanges with former Secretary of State for Education Charles Clarke, Head of the Church of England Education Service Reverend Janina Ainsworth, and the Chair of the Association of Muslim Schools, Dr Mohammed Mukadam.

It also features insights from child psychologists and key players in faith education as well as insights from both parents and pupils.

Dawkins also draws on his own personal history as a father, arguing that the government must stop funding new faith schools, and urges society to respect a child's right to freedom of belief.

Frankly, answer one question of mine, why should an omnipotent, omniscient, all-powerful, all-merciful God even care what the hell you think about him? He's beyond your conception and hence, your petty moralizing; and so, he doesn't give a damn about which monkey or angel you're concerned with...

What the fuck do they mean by opinions? Do I get an opinion about whether an electron carries negative charge or positive? Are these girls nuts? I'm Hindu and from our books( which are mostly commentaries), we are created by God. The Gita(Only thing worth learning) doesn't deal much with it, and concerns itself with more serious things like 'DON'T GO AROUND MURDERING PEOPLE IN JIHADS AND CRUSADES".

I am very happy to see this video. It gladdens my heart to see the future work fore that will serve my two young boys when they grow up. We need these people to sweep the public latrines, clean my backyard, carry out my garbage, etc.  If all of people became well eductade who would do the menial work in the society that needs to get done? There has to be a group of people who are perfectly happy with their lot in the society while doing these low paying jobs. Keep it up.

As opposed to what....a 2000 yr. old myth? No scientist says "This is how it is." That's a statement of certainty, or in other words, the realm of faith. They say this is the probable explanation based on the massive amounts of evidence.
