Ok, first, press VOICE and then NOTE CHASE. Press the Hi-hat pedal, then turn the VALUE knob to whatever sound you like. Make sure it is in the KIK category.Then, if you like the sound, press STORE, and there you have it!

I don't have this module anymore but from memory if you turn on note chase then press the pedal you should be able to change the sound at this point.
These directions may not be completely accurate but as close as I can remember.
Now a note of caution. The hi hat pedal isn't designed to take the abuse that a base drum pedal can so you could speed up the wear of the hi hat causing premature failure.
