Christmas, a high stakes poker game: a high flying banker and Santa battle it out for this year's Christmas bonus.
It's an hand to hand fight to the blood. One of them's packing and it ain't presents...

***************

I have shot all the scenes with a Canon 7D in London in one long night. I have then used Premiere and After Effects for editing, color correction, motion graphics and visual effects, for which I have also used pre-keyed stock footage from Video Copilot Action Essentials 2. I have also created the soundtrack in Soundbooth using Video Copilot Pro Scores.

Here is a list of gear used:
Main camera: Canon 7D
Lenses: Canon 50mm F1.4, Tokina 11-16mm F2.8, Canon 100mm F2.8 Macro
Viewfinder: Zacuto Z-finder
Tripod: Manfrotto 055XPROB
Tripod head: Manfrotto 701HDV
Follow Focus: D Focus
Dolly: Glidetrack HD
Audio Recorder: Zoom H4n

  • Why I throwing chips directly into the pot. What if someone raises?

  • @XtremeGoose Good point... I guess that when Santa is at the table, common sense doesn't apply...

  • Since the dealer shuffle, I couldn't get over how poorly everyone handled their cards...

  • @desentrix Yes, I guess next time we'll hire a real poker player as a consultant... ;)

  • Nah - not Santa Claus (or the infamous Sanity Claus from the Marx Brothers films of yesteryear) - it's..."Hidden Claus"! He's the one secreted in all finance agreements to screw you out of more money...he's obivously taking a break from that side of the business to concentrate on his poker skills...

Great video - like the "Sin City" esque colour styling - how'd you do that?

  • @evilharb

Ahaha! Hidden Claus is a good one!

The Sin City effect is done in After Effects duplicating each clip and applying a "tint" filter on one and a "leave color" to the other (stacked on top). Then I have masked the red areas on the layer on the top tracking camera movement manually.

    Glad you like it!

  • thumbs up if barley political brought you here...

  • That clearly wasn't Santa Claus. It was his evil twin brother the Anti-Claus. He often goes around pretending to be Santa in order to gain peoples trust so he can perform heinous acts.
