God bless Matthew, Teena Brandon, Gwen Araujo and all victims of senseless, brutal hate crimes. They should never be forgotten.

@GaySingleMulatto Ironically, that's one of the few places you can find true beauty anymore. After tragedy, people do what's right not because they want to be remembered for doing the right thing, but because it is the right thing. Which is a sadly rare thing today.

@SereenaStellar A few details need clarification. McKinney and Henderson weren't just drinking. Matt wasn't wrapped in wire; his wrists were tied behind the fence while he sat on the ground. As Jean-Paul Sartre noted in "La Nausée", there is no way to tell a story without deviating from the actual. We've seen both "Anatomy of a Hate Crime" and "The Matthew Shepard Story", and neither has all the facts. Then in November 2004, ABC's 20/20 further distorted what happened that night.

@BuddyNovinski How is it far from what happened to him?

Yes, it was Bernie who wrote it

who wrote the lyrics for this beautifully sad song? Was it Bernie?

Unfortunately, it's far from what happened to Matthew Wayne Shepard, but nonetheless, it say so much. How can anyone really capture the entire sad incident? The little guy lives on the internet, and it seems as if the internet was made for him. The last time I looked, his internet identity on AOL was still available but "he isn't in".
Thank you for posting, Matthew needs to be remembered.
