Rumba clave represents the folkloric side of Afro-Cuban music and recently has become a familiar sound in popular music as well. Listen carefully for the delayed eigth note on the three side of the beat. Learning where it goes might be the easy part, really "feeling" where it belongs can take a fair amount of time, so practice, pracitce and more practice is required.

  • musichopper i think he's coo. he's counting 1 2 3 4 in half time. so 1-2 is the first measure and 3-4 is the second measure. ... i think :)

  • You are not fuckin taping your foot in time with even your own verbal 1 2 3 4 count which makes this annoying as all hell

  • This really is the best dance lesson ever, and I have been dancing salsa and afro-cuban dance for a long long time.

  • Excellent tutorial!!

  • H!...it would be good to mic this in such a way where there is less echo and the down beat is more defined...it could be recorded better...

  • Hi Michael. You have unintentionally just given me the most simple and elegant, and best dance class I have ever had, and I have been dancing for five years. Congas, nine months. Thank you you are a highly creative and lovely teacher.

  • Hi Michael! Would be great if we could see your feet tapping on the floor. Thanks for the lesson!!!

  • Mr. Spiro, thank you greatly for your method of presentation. I've been watching "lessons" on youtube for months now. Never have I seen anyone bring it all back to the body. Obviously, if one's been a drummer for a time, this would be understood. But, you really know how to delineate the essence of drumming in your teaching. For me, drumming has always been an expression though the body from the inside. Thank you again. I'll be exploring you vid's very intensely.

  • Hi Michael! Great lesson!
