@ProfHanley : resolutely heterosexual, if you check out his songs on The "Little Red Songbook". He lost the sight in the eye after washing a contaact lens in some dodgy tap water, and contracted a nasty protozoan infection.

Remember when Magazine crumbled after John McGeoch signed up with the Banshees? It was not surprising - how under rated this fine band was, especially with (I think) their best album 'The Correct Use of Soap'. Why did they not achieve the acclaim they deserved? It's always been a mystery.
