It seems like a lot of these ingredients you add to the unrefined shea butter are the same as your homemade hair and body oil. Is there a reason not to just add that to the shea and mix? thanks.

So day two of a twist out with this mixture (after doing the mayo/egg DC as well), and my hair looks great. Still soft, shiny, not tangling much, even after pineappling, which my hair usually hates. I used a pound of shea butter and a little goes a long way. It'll last me for the better part of year. I'm a believer! :)

I don't know what the science behind it is exactly, but when you melt shea butter down completely it changes the composition somehow. I did it once to a small container of shea butter and it was never quite the same. Flaky and chunky, not smooth at all. It's probably best to mix it when everything is in its natural state so they blend easily

Any reason why it's not good to add heat to melt

Is this greasy? I tried making a shea butter mixture to use as a hair moisturizer, but it was extremely greasy. Any advise?
