The middle class of Bangkok are a totally different people to the Isan people of Sakhon Nakhon etc. I always thought that the Isan people (a) had nothing (b) had no expectations of ever having anything but (c) would share their last bowl of rice with you.

You cant say that about the commercial minded two faced people of Bangkok or even worse Phuket. Sorry for the generalisation, of course there are good and bad everywhere
