A small gameplay vid of a plasma gun mod that is a reference to the Doom 3 game.

Ive started experimenting with the GECK and tought about making a reference to the original doom 3 plasmagun. Its still in its testing fase, like tweaking the damage and fire rate.

(I know the damage the gun gives in the description is around 2600, altough thats strange since its base damage is around 10, it might have to do somthing with the calculation with the weapon's fire-rate)

Its not the REAL deal, since I don't know how to edit models / textures well. So ill keep with the original design of the Plasma Rifle, but Ill try to add a story to the appearence of this gun in the Fallout universe when it might get released.

Like in Doom 3, this Prototype is ver effective in short-medium ranged combat, due to the nature of the projectile its not recommened for longer range.

For now the gun uses the microfusion cells, but in "reality" the Doom 3 plasma gun uses "real" plasma in cells to as as "fuel" for the gun. I think it was the byproduct of the Empro facility energy process.

So if everything works out fine with the gun, I can start on thinking how players can craft this kind of ammo. (Of course to think to create this kind of plasma, you need advanced equipment that can't be found on the wastelands [Prehaps the enclave have this equipment] ...)

Comments are welcome so I can keep the gun balanced for normal gameplay.

  • aww, i was so hopeing for the the original plasma gun SFX, from Doom 1 / 2. It still pretty cool.

    Well, i'm quite new with GECK, i'm not ready yet to edit models/sprites since I lack the experience.

    But yea, the classic doom sprites + gun would be more "old-school" :p

  • no but nexus has way to many rules and may not like the fact that it has the doom 3 sounds but at f3underground they wont have a issue with and some one might be able to give you the actual doom 3 plasma gun model.

  • Lowering the amount of ammo per mag (maybe to 30-ish) and fire rate will make it more balanced. So far, it's pretty good though.

  • You're welcome. I'd even happily write the item descriptions for you or the quest dialogue--I'm good with that sort of thing.

  • I like the idea of an underground movement that makes these weapons and collecting parts for the gun. Altough i'm starting with the GECK, making new quests and configuring nps's will be a new field for me to explore :)

    Still, at least I have an inspiration :p

    If you could make a bunch of sidequests to fetch, steal, or loot the parts to make the gun work, that'd be nice too.
