Im a Southerner but love Gateshead.Havent been there for a while so nice to come across this piece of film,brought back some good memories.Thanks for making the effort.

deo Starts off On Durham Road, Gateshead, England. The Angel of the North is about 100 metres directly behind. If you go on google maps and type in address I just mentioned you will be able to go through the Street View and this way you will be able to pan around 360 degrees. (Bet you already done that, sorry I,m a year late with this.) -
I drive around Gateshead and Newcastle for a living!!
I have been driving around Gateshead and Newcastle shooting video in HD 720p.

Gateshead was very rough and deprived till late 1970's, since then it has improved dramatically.
My dad was manager of the shop currys there in a very deprived part of it and there were regular raids and arsene attacks and at the time it was simmilar to glasgow but now it is generally fine.
I live in york but always enjoy a visit down to newcastle.

What a wonderful piece of film from my home town.
My sister and father still live in Gateshead (Mother passed away in 2009) but I moved to Wakefield in 1986, and sis had her wedding reception at the Springfield Hotel on the Dryden Road junction, which is now knocked down.
I take it you are driving a Volvo?

Love this.. its superb .. and catches a moment in time too.... whats that building you are deliverying stuff to.. its built now ..and looks empty..

I was delivering to the Drainage Center, but there was a building going up behind them.
