This is Pennypickle's workshop at the Temecula Children's museum. Imagine the professors workshop, clearly intent on inventing... whatever it is. Might be a time machine, looking at it? His faithful accomplice, Beaker the mouse, has an IQ of at least 180, and you'll see the tubes connecting his own part of the workshop to his living quarters, which are spread all over the museum. His own very complex workpiece is sitting inside the cabinet, and you'll see the staircase, full of tools and books, connecting the work platforms and one of his livingrooms and bedrooms. Press the buttons to turn lights on and off, and one of the buttons even lets you hear what's going on inside. He must be there somewhere, working.
This entire room was set up in our studio and mostly finished before being disassembled and taken to site where it was installed over the cause of a week. We used our 3D printer to print the stairs and a few other bits and pieces, and then the waterjet cutter to cut all the gears - they're all made from wood, and include gears up to 4' (1.2m) diameter, and some square and oval gears too. What an enjoyable job! If you live in the area (or even when you don't) go and visit this museum, it is absolutely lovely for kids and parents alike.
