Have u thot about visiting a local Korean church? In a busy,busy,tightly knit society, I think it will be quite hard for u to meet the locals&get them to really open up/help you out..especially cos ur a foreigner+male+there was a weird incident last time with a male English teacher&now lots of ppl are more on guard.

actually, that was 2 months pay saved up, I made 2 million won after taxes/month (the rate has since gone up)
I worked public, it pays less, but the hours are much better, the workload is much more manageable, and there is a good support network in place to ease you in the 1st few weeks.
