Hey Tom, thanks for sharing your opinion about Chuck Jones's use of Daffy Duck. Other than just 'suck'ing could you be more specific? Why does the wackier (or earlier version) of Daffy Duck appeal to you so much more than the more nuanced characterization by Chuck? To me that wacky Daffy Duck lacks character, it's one note and annoying. I like to watch Daffy think -- which is something Jones was very capable of creating. But that's just me...

Chuck Jones' Daffy is hilarious.

Robin Hood Daffy. Deduce, You Say, Duck Amuck. Drip-Along Daffy. Duck Dodgers. All of his Bugs/Daffy cartoons. All immensly funny.

Mmmmhhh.. Not really. Donald is more of a sad clown while Daffy is a comedic clown. Both are extremely relatable in their own way . Donald has a worse temper than Daffy. Daffy's anger is pretty sporadic and short-lived, the moment a bone is thrown at him he mood--swings instantly . Even then, Daffy is uncontrollably ambitious while Don is a bit more down to earth ... Both are some of the greatest characters ever made , Donald is the ego, Daffy is the id

I personally can see good points and bad points to both versions of Daffy but I do think Chuck Jones version of Bugs was boring, he wasn't pro-active he didn't do things any more

Well it is about one of the greatest mallards of all time we're talking about sire ! And I am sick and tired of people trashing Daffy's 50's output instead of seeing as a part of what makes him so awesome ! and Jones never made Daffy bitter or grumpy, hhell he constantly chews the scenery and is overenthusiastic
