This game was bloody hard for a kid.

The original which is awesome BTW is a throttle that is analog. So with just using the keyboard its either full on or you can feather it by tapping it fast or slow. A analog throttle would be better and some fancier joysticks have a throttle. I do have a pretty sweet 4 way only joystick for Pac-Man like games though that I built and I also have a x-Arcade tracball which works well for games like missile command ect. I wish I had a lunar lander arcade machine but they are pretty rare.
There is nothing like playing Lunar Lander on the original arcade machine with the analog throttle.....i go to Cal-extreme every year just for it!

@slowpig7 I agree 100%. I wish I had a LL game. I did recently acquire a Q*bert though which sits nicely next to my Centipede and my Joust and my Super Pac-Man. Unfortunately LL's are far and few. I have played on a near mint one about 2 years ago. Thats what got me so hooked on this game. If only I could get in front of a real LL machine for a few hours with a cam. I know I could beat the current arcade record of 1,525. Oh well maybe someday...

i never play this game, but,,,are you getting bonus fuel? on the landing at 379, you went down to about 250, and when the landing was complete you had 302. i noticed this on the next level when you went from double digits back up to >100.
just wondering

On Lunar Lander when you make a perfect landing (less than 15fps descending speed) you are awarded a bonus of 50 additional units of fuel. If you do not make a perfect landing you get no extra fuel and if you crash it takes away some fuel units. It truly is at first glance a very simplistic game but as with many older classics there is more than what meets the eye as far as strategy goes.
