@srsmith212 You need to know what products your stylist was using. Most of them now have a time limit so keeping a product on too long is just a waste of time. If you really want to color your own hair and have never done it before you can always start with a toner, which will wash out and is less harsh than a permanent color. I do know that the farther you go from your natural hair color, the harder it is to change. So if you are dark brown and are now blonde, stay with a salon.

i have dark brown/black hair and i want to go lighter but i do not want orange or red untertones. i want my colour to be light brown with cool undertones. which colour do you suggest i buy ?

If u go higher, u need to prelight hair (unless you are already a level 7 or up)...eventually, you need to consider the underneath pigment color of your target shade...and then, neutralize it, with its opposite colour of the spectrum..Regards Red.
