Affliction (1997) Nick Nolte is an exemplar father.

it's funny, nolte apologizes to his daughter and not the guy he grabbed.

@exbronco1980 Not at all. While Wade was a massively flawed individual, 90% of the ridicule he received was undeserved.

Consumed by alcoholism I think? It's been a while since I've seen the film. Seeing this gave me more of an appreciation of the life that I've been given.

Our stories describe the lives of the boys and men for thousands of years: boys who were beaten by their fathers, whose capacity for love and trust was crippled almost at birth, men whose best hope for connection with other human beings lay in detachment, as if life were over. It's how we keep from destroying in turn our own children and terrorizing the women who have the misfortune to love us; how we absent ourselves from the tradition of male violence how we decline the seduction of revenge.

@exbronco1980 Well that worm cook provoked him, in front of his daughter no less....
The uploader of this video is an idiot. There was nothing funny about Nolte's performance in this movie. Just seeing this character's psyche crumble over time was not easy to watch...
Great film though.
