New Large Diameter DR-TWIST Drills

ISCAR has a new family of large diameter drills, 61 to 80 mm, which expands the existing 14 to 60 mm range.

This new family features a drill body with a 50 mm Weldon shank that carries cartridges with square inserts (4 cutting edges) in 10, 11
and 12 mm.
The inserts are available with two chipformer types and in the following grades:
● IC908 for alloy steel and cast iron
● IC808 for low alloy steel, stainless steel and high temperature alloys
● IC8080 which is recommended for high speed drilling of cast iron and steel, to be used for the peripheral insert

Each drill is supplied with several shim plates. By mounting these plates, the drill's diameter can be changed. The combination of each drill body's shim plate and cartridge defines a specific drill diameter (whole sizes). Thus the range of 61 to 80 mm can be covered by four drill bodies -- a very economical solution.

The drill body features a high flute angle and wide gullets for easy chip evacuation on a large variety of materials and is coated with a hard layer for wear and corrosion resistance. The dimensional specifications are laser-marked on it.
The cartridges undergo a special hardening process to resist chip flow erosion.
The new drills enable high volume metal removal.
