The Radbot 1000 is a 1-watt tail light that uses 2-AAA batteries. It comes with hardware that lets you mount it on the seatpost, seatstay or clips onto a under-the-seat bag. The Planet Bike Blinky Superflash is a worthy light as well and features a 1/2 watt LED with 2-LED lights below that flash opposite the 1/2 watt LED. The Superflash has two modes, Main LED continuously on or all three LED's flashing sequentially. The Radbot 1000 has three modes, continuously on, pulsing and strobe (pop).

Available from Amazon Radbot 1000 batteries will last 50 hours or more, the Superflash double that.

Both are great lights.

  • Have you had any problems with the PlanetBIke light? I have one which seems identical in shape but with different modes (Smart Lunar 1/2 Watt rear) and it either tuns off/on randomly or as I have recently found out gets so dim in the cold it's barely visible... even tried wrapping elextrical tape around the dge but no difference.

  • @koko56 No problems to report.

  • i heard these radbot 1000s turn off out of no were while riding

  • @Auxiliary84 Apparently the batteries can lose contact if on really bumpy roads or terrain. Personally I've not experienced that happening. I also don't have my light fixed on the frame, it's hanging from my seat bag thus not subjected to jarring forces.

  • A bit of a random question, but what watch are you wearing? I really like how thin it is. Thanks!

  • @deliciousc4ke LOL... THANKS. It is a Skagen... made in Denmark. I love how thin and unobtrusive it is. Mine is a stainless steel watch, they also make some equally thin titanium models that are so light you can't believe you're even wearing a watch.

  • When you have a bright led you don't need the auxiliary led's. Also if your light happens to fall the Radbot will stay intact, the Superflash falls apart. The Radbot is also more waterproof.

Both are excellent for general use but I prefer my Dinotte 140L. Much, much more attention getting.

  • If you shut the Radbot 1000 off it will turn back on at the flash you shut it off in. PlanetBike New Turbo is also one watt.

  • excellent review / comparison, thanks.

  • Very thorough, thanks muchly!

  • @cnymike yea i just got mine in the mail and mines will be clip on my backpack .. cant wait till its night time

  • @Auxiliary84 Not by my experience. However, I have had it turned off by other cyclists, usually because "they're about to have a seizure".
