The Pig Attraction 3 of 3

The Pig Attraction was a CITV show broadcast in 1993. It was a documentary (of sorts) on puppets and often descended into backstage chaos a la The Muppet Show. It was co-hosted by Billy The Pig and Simon Buckley (who was a puppeteer himself).

Each show would feature interviews between Billy The Pig and various puppets such as Roland Rat, Big Bird, Hartley Hare etc. Simon would usually visit puppeteers and interview them about their work. Another popular feature of the show featured Pinky and Perky singing a song.

This complete episode features Billy The Pig chatting with Earl E Bird (From Channel 4s Early Bird show), the cast of The Wild Bunch (A 1991 Channel 4 series) and finally a brief link up Big Bird. The show also features a brief appearance of Hartley Hare from Pipkins in specially recorded material for the show. Simon Buckley visits the Harlequin Puppet Theatre and also interviews Brian Henson on the latest puppetry technology. A particularly creepy piece of puppetry is performed by Faulty Optic.

This video is taken direct from a VHS recording I made in 1993. It also features a trailer for the CITV series titled Kapatoo II.

I haven't seen this for 17 years! Cheers for posting the episode. It was great to see Brumble The Bear especially, I always thought he was really funny. Not many people remember him. He also appeared in the first series of the Saturday morning show Ghost Train in a studio segment with Sandi Toksvig.

Brumble was made, operated and voiced by Simon Buckley, who also created, operated and voiced Nobby the Sheep and Billie the Pig.
