Windscape is a project located in the Gateway District of north east Portland, designed by GreenWorks Landscape Architects. This kinetic sculptural landscape features red flexible poles that stand approximately 20 feet in the air and sway and bend to make the strong winds visible that characterize this area of Portland. Sustainable project features include the reuse of demolished sidewalk concrete paving from the 102nd Ave Streetscape Redevelopment Project to form the low mortared serpentine walls that twist through the site. Stormwater runoff from adjacent impervious surfaces is infiltrated in a stormwater basin. Important partners on this project were: Oregon Department of Transportation, Portland Transportation Department, Portland Development Commisssion, David Evans and Assoc., and Thompson Brothers Excavating, Inc.

  • They were never meant to whistle. In fact they have rubber caps in them to prevent them from whistling.
