Here is some video of an old Baby Pac-Man machine I was given in May 2008 by a coworker who was moving. The machine currently resides in a room in my brother's basement, where it miraculously survived a flooding that forced my brother to strip down the basement walls. (Note the bare walls and debris covered floor.)

The machine was converted to a NEO-GEO machine at some point, and was stripped of its original mini pinball field. It has since lost its NEO-GEO console as well.

{{EDIT: The man who gave me the cabinet later gave me the console. This was after my brother and I bought one on eBay. (D'oh!)

Since the video was made, my brother and I have bought a number of original arcade PCBs and tested them in this cabinet. Maybe I will shoot videos of these in the near future.

After the machine had narrowly escaped water damage from the flooding mentioned already, I asked my brother to put the machine up on blocks in case there was another flood.

He didn't.

There was.

Now there is some minor water damage at one rear corner.

The machine is up on blocks now.}}

  • here's a gay question: What is the joystick. I pray to g0d it's not anything by haP

  • If you are talking about Happ controls, then the answer is no. Luckily, the joysticks on this machine are older classic style ball tops. Most of the joysticks available from Happ are the ones with club shaped handles. I really hate those.

  • so are the ball tops wico, or are they japanese like sanwa or seimitsu??

  • I do not know the brand of the sticks. They were added by whoever it was who converted the machine over to NEO GEO some time in the early '90s.

  • I think Paperclown is just one of those stupid 15 year olds who thinks he's tough by mouthing off. The moment He'd see me or Boingo in person, he'd wet his pants. (but especially if he saw me)

  • As I mentioned in the video, the machine was gutted by a previous owner years ago and converted into a NEO GEO machine. The only thing that is left is the cabinet itself. As such, restoring it to a working Baby Pac-man is pretty much out of the picture.

  • I'm just saying, it's something to think about before hacking it up. I don't know if you still have the pcb components to it or if it's just the cab.

But this machine is pretty rare as it was an unlicensed product that was shutdown by namco. working it can go for around $2500 because of being unique and pinball/arcade, versus a $200 mame cabinet.

  • 8.) I am NOT blkdog7. He has money, resources and time. His Vs machine was already working when he got it. Mine had the wiring harness completely ruined, and the monitor or one side was (and still is) dead. His baby Pac-man had all of its original parts. Mine was gutted long ago.

There is a big between fixing up machines that need minor repairs, and rebuilding machines that are basically empty boxes.

  • 4.) In spite of this, I have indeed been working hard on my machines.

5.) This particular machine has been useful for running the various JAMMA boards I have bought over the last year.

    6.) You are a troll.

7.) If you actually care what happens with this machine, you will tell me where I can find any of the following: - the game boards - a replacement playfield - a monitor of the proper type

Don't forget this game was completely gutted of its original parts years ago.

  • 1.) Don't be rude.

2.) I am currently out of work. I have not had the money or the resources to restore any of machines. It is very hard to pull money out of your ass when you are living on a pension.

3.) The machine is not at my place. It is at my brother's place, a half hour's drive away. With no car, I don't get to visit my machines very often. It is difficult to work on something when you only get to see it once every six or eight weeks!
