Confound you. My mind if full of images of arabic horses ...I've never ridden a horse that wasn't massive (i live in suffolk where we have the suffolk-punch "a big horse") ....I wanted a head full of camels to remind me of Egypt / Libya / Tunisia. 8D

THIS IS NOT FLUTE ,IT CALLED SUFI NEY,WHIRLING DERWISHES PLAY IT WHIT THEIR CEREMONIES
asv786 1 year ago
@asv786 the name comes from the early Persian "nây" which simply means flute.
as im aware. there are turkish, egyptian and persian style of nay/ney.. the sufi's would be turkish.. ive seen them play several times, its wonderful.
to be clean, the one im playing is none of the above, it is one i made myself and is side-blown, tuned in a sort of arabic scale

is this a transverse flute? I can't tell from the dark video. I saw you playing a NAF in another video, and wondered if you tuned one to an "arabian" style scale. Stellar makes a NAF "fipple" style flute tuned in some fashion like that. My guess is transverse, but, either way sounds haunting. Need that echo/reverb for it!

thank you, yes it's transverse, and tuned to a melodic scale. i find a transverse flute is to a 'stick-shit/clutch" as a NAF or fipple flute is to an automatic-transmission, more control over the airstream
