United Nations, New York, 3 June 2009 - Member states of the United Nations have met to discuss climate change and its possible security implications.
The General Assembly plenary meeting touched on issues such as the respective responsibilities of the United Nations and its affiliated bodies for the maintenance of international peace and security, and sustainable development.
Today's discussions are one of a number that will take place between member states in the lead up to the United Nations Climate Conference in Copenhagen in December, 2009.
