César Franck: Symphony in d minor - movement 3, part 1 Duna Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Tamás Dániel Csűry. The recording was taken on June 3 2009 in the Great Hall of the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest
@SirBrandonKing Aww, dude! I played this piece with my high school orchestra and came looking for it for a bit of nostalgia. Now all I hear is My Little Pony!
Well, I was rather afraid of quite unknown orchestra and young conductor - and I appreciate their performance so much! I can't believe how little applause is there for them at the end - so from me: one big GREAT JOB! :-)
The strangest symphony ever written--and also the most unique. Has a compelling, quirky power. Slides chromatically all over the place. In a way, Franck wrote the first 'jazz' symphony--20 years before jazz was invented--channeling Gershwin before he was born!! Something in the ether all musicians share??
I agree, this movement also reminds me of Gershwin! Both were geniuses! I love the modulation...very intriguing yet not overdone. How can you do better than perfect?

@K0hijinOST I know what you mean--it pulls you in and pushes you back at the same time. A unique key sound to be sure.

I'm just gonna put this out there:
One of the recurring themes is a snippet of the My Little Pony theme song. As such, I can't approach this piece from an unbiased perspective.

@fredo76690 you mean 'very bad conductor'?
Hey, he gets the job (very well) done even if his gestures are at times unusual.
Your comment is just plain silly.
