Kevin plays a beautiful slow air, Róisín Dubh (Dark Rose), from the 16th century, followed by a march or hornpipe, The Home Ruler, composed by Frank McCollum of Ballycastle, county Antrim in honor of his wife. It is sometimes thought to refer to the politician Daniel O'Connell , who was known as 'The Home Ruler, but that was not the composer's intention, according to those who knew him.

  • thank you for posting this. The Home Ruler was composed by an Orangeman from Ballycastle, Co. Antrim. He composed it in honour of his wife and has nothing to do with Daniel O'Connell.

  • The Slow air is Róisín Dubh (Dark Roisin) it was used in the film 'Mise Éire'
