I found this very large red oak - almost 56 inches DBH on the side of a mountain on the Brimstone Tract near Huntsville.

This tree is sawlog / veneer quality if there is a mill capable of processing such a large tree.

Personally I hope that this tree remains standing and is not felled by a saw. WOW is all that I can say.

  • That's incredible! Was it healthy and heart solid, or hollow? Looks like over 2500 board feet.
