Finally, enough progress on the conversion of my standard gauge layout to show what has been accomplished to date. This is not a complex layout - no multi-layer tracks through towering mountains, or huge trestles over raging waterfalls. My goal was to provide a platform to show off the operation of these incredible modern steam and diesel models. The trains will show a definite leaning towards Canadian road names. Not surprising since I have lived in most parts of this country since childhood. I hope to continue work on the layout over the coming months - I only have one loop wired and operating at the moment. I am also utilizing MTH's DCS system to operate some - but not all - of the engines you will see in future videos. Now that was a challenge I had not anticipated. Complicated doesn't even start to come close to mastering this system. Luckily, I had the help of Barry Broskowitz to guide me through the maze. Welcome to my new world of O gauge trains. Hope you enjoy the ride.

  • I hope this isn't the end of Standard Gauge!

  • @Trainbrain1949 Oh, no, not the end. Just a diversion to the dark side for a few years. I'm hoping our next house will have room for both.

  • Looks good. Is that Fastrak? Whatever, I find it adds a lot to the look of a layout. You'll be able to add a dash more scenery, too. Keep us informed of your progress, please.

  • @Hendo56 Thanks for the comment. Yes, it is indeed Fastrack. Very easy to work with and looks great. More scenery is definitely coming. Hard to find time during the summer, but progress reports will be forthcoming. Thanks again.

  • You probably did a lot of should I or shouldn't I's. Looks like you made the right decision. It's coming along great. I know how I felt just taking one section out to change the lay out around.

    Keep the updates coming

  • @fogmang27 Thanks. Yes, should I, shouldn't I, and don't forget "why did I?" .I think the secret is to take your time and try things out before committing your self. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement. I will be uploading more updates (with trains running) over the next few weeks.
