@7165mike 25/8 is no different from any other provisional rule in any other series. NASCAR has a 35/8 rule at all their events, with it possibly being a 36/7 rule depending on past champions. 25/8 was just an excuse the CART teams used to not run and play the victim..
If you look at the speed difference between the fastest and slowest qualifiers it is obvious that some of the drivers were simply not good enough to race cars of this amount of speed and power, also there were 4 drivers who did not qualify for being "too slow". This was the start of a pointless and self destructive civil war in American Open Wheel Motorsports that has resulted in us having the same kind of series Tony George was so much against in 1996!
@richdeveau24 TG has yet to even apologise. I can't imagine he can be happy about the damage done to IndyCar racing as a result of his self-centered "vision".
Look at all (3) of the sprint/midget graduates...There are more non-US drivers (4 "furriners") and Formula One veterans (5) than IRL-intended drivers in the field. A true contradiction of purpose.
