*********Just to ELUCIDATE: I am NOT Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I ONLY INTRODUCED her... People have been sending me messages thinking am her. I AM NOT. I am Mariam.***********

As part of the inaugural EAIFL Education Day, a group of fifty students and lecturers from Middlesex University Dubai enjoyed a highly entertaining interactive session with award-winning Chimamanda Adichie. Mariam Maude, a final year Communications & Media Studies student, gave an informed introduction to the visiting author. This Orange prize-winner engaged her audience with stories of her own journey as a writer from Medical student to an internationally recognized name. She spoke of what inspires her to write, the process of writing and explored several aspects of her two novels: Purple Hibiscus and Half of a Yellow Sun.

The audience was intrigued and enthralled by her responses to their questions and enjoyed the opportunity to speak in person while having their books signed.

  • The comparison with Chinua Achebe might be unfair towards her. She's an accomplished writer in her own right.

  • @yendorification yes yes!

  • Nice to see Africans doing big things. Keep up the good work and make the Nigeria, Africa, and the global black community proud

  • Very interesting
