The fact is that animal-based enzymes are relatively weak when compared to the plant-based sources. In fact, when testing animal enzymes against plant-based enzymes using the same substrate (digestible material), pH and assay, the plant-based enzymes break down between 10 and 100 times more protein per milligram than the animal source enzymes. So if we are going to stick with the theory above about pro¬teolytic activity, it stands to reason that the higher the pro¬teolytic activity, the more effective the product. Fourth, the amount of tablets consumed range from 30 to 90 a day in cases of severe distress. For most people this does not seem practical, especially since they are most likely taking other supplements and medications as well.
