Ellen Degeneres' Mom, Betty, narrates gay marriage film

Ellen DeGeneres. It is especially topical since Ellen just married her partner Portia DeRossi, as have many other gay couples in California.
The way this film differs from other gay and lesbian marriage films- is that it is not
about civil unions and state rights- but instead about the over 1000 Federal rights,
benefits and protections that gay couples do not have. Even in states like California and Vermont-
where they have domestic partnerships and civil unions.
Prop 8 in California only addresses the rights of that state, but one day we will have to
bring the bigger picture to the Supreme Court in order the get the Federal level of human rights
for gay couples. This film features couples who have been together for more than 10 to 40 years, and their stories
regarding those Federal rights such as inheritance, health care and immigration. "It is my hope that
the newly elected President, Barack Obama, will address these injustices and make changes in America that extend
these human rights to all US Citizens, including gay people" says Producer/Director Catherine Gray.
