My 1971 Honda CB500. Just finished a two month build with the motor in hundreds of little bits.
New pistons, wrist pins, cylinder, cylinder bore, cam chain, tensioner, gaskets, etc. After a 3mm overbore, it now diplaces 555 cc. Should be good for another 40 years before I have to do anything major again :)

  • i have a 71 cb 500 and i was wandering how to take the carbs off

  • Your best bet is to completely remove the rubber boots between the carbs and the air box. Not just from the carbs, but from the air box as well. Thats the best way to get space in that ridiculously tight frame

  • sounds good, did you think about a CB650 cam? makes more horsies :D

  • how much trouble did you have finding parts? I have a '73 CB350F which runs passably well - though there does seem to be a lot of cam chain noise. Tried adjusting several times. It may be there is no fix to it short of rebuilding. I will ride it like it is for now until it gives out. Nice job.

  • nice sounds good!!

  • sweet thanks it worked
