Interesting to see that Pastor Mark makes it seems that it's smart to obey another man and do as one is told. He basically equates people who disagree with him as being "arrogant" when he is wrong. Men do not need to submit to women or other men but only to God and God alone. Anything else is BS. Sure, men can give advice and provide counseling but at no point in time is another man allowed authority over his brethren. I am free in Christ and he alone will guide me.

@jgallant1990 this is not referring to secular authorities, or familial authorities, did you even listen? It is referring to authority in the church, and men should ONLY come under the headship of Christ.
-
@martiebaby of course there are other authorities: parents, government are two big ones. to say that there are no other authorities is unbiblical. and this is not to belittle Christ in the slightest as He is the supreme authority.

Did he just say "he'll receive rebuke, correction, instruction from his wife"? Do you have some kind of biblical reference for that because it's sounds like garbage to me? In this day an age it would be a cold day in hell when any feminized modern Christian woman would receive anything like rebuke, correction or instruction from a husband let alone submit and you expect men to make marriage work by submitting to wives?
THIS is exactly why so many single men don't even care about marriage...

I agree, love his preaching, too, but he is dead wrong about man being under authority. This is one of the reasons God hates homosexuality. It upsets the natural order God put into place of headship. A woman comes under the headship of her husband, but a man comes ONLY under the headship of God. To ask him to come under the headship of another man is to emasculate him and make him spiritually into a homosexual. God hates this. God alone is supposed to be our head. The church of Rome denies this.
Being under authority creates discipline and maturity. Men who despise authority really don't grow. The problem comes in with horror stories about misuses of authority. But men should always put God first as their 1rs authority figure and man as secondary that way you're not abused. In the bible it says that a man who trusts the stregnth of an other man shall be destroyed or cursed. Ultimately we make idols out of men and seek them to replace God.

I love mark driscoll. I have all his downloads on itunes. I do disagree with his "under authority" idea. Everything else he said was great but we don't need man reigning over us. I've yet to see this in the bible. We should submit to one another but not entrust our souls to another mans "authority"...only Christs.
