An interview with a member of the Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP) conducted at the Left Forum, April 18, 2009.

The Revolutionary Communist Party, USA (RCP, USA), known originally as the Revolutionary Union, is a Maoist communist party formed in 1975 in the United States. The RCP states that U.S. imperialism will never peacefully change and that the only way for people to liberate themselves is through communist revolution.

  • dumb fucks

  • a lot has known about RCP in China, and now i saw this interview.

  • @82ndairborne100 By that comment, you apparently don't know what it is. Under a literal Communist society, there is no government. There is no state. A literal Communist society is inherently anarchist.

The thing that you're most likely referring to is SOCIALISM, which is when the means of production are publicly owned, and the surplus value goes to the state rather than the one private owner of the business. This is intended as a transitional stage to Communism. Just FYI.

  • Let's all just face facts communism will always fail no matter what

  • @82ndairborne100 Maybe you should read 'The Communist Manifesto' by Karl Marx before you start to comment stuff like that.

  • Communism is stupid. Does anybody actually know what it is. Its a disease. A leader gets power, and won't give it up. They will devour our opinions and freedom. Not only will everything be owned by the government but freedom of speech. If he doesn't like the NEW York Times then he can get rid of it. If we were to continue to protest for jobs which we do now, we could be killed. Our government allows so much. All I say is "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence."

  • @wcropp1 individual freedom, which would mostly be the right to self-employment, the right to not work, social freedoms and civil liberties, etc. Authoritarianism is an enemy of the working class. Unfortunately, some "communists" in the past thought it was a bright idea to use minority rule via the coercive authority of the state to try and force communism into existence, and we all know how well that worked out.

  • @wcropp1 interests of the people in a democratic fashion with the possibility of recall for a worker's wage (a la the Paris Commune, revolutionary Spain, etc.) are movements and institutions of the "People" in name only. Long story short--a genuinely communist revolution requires that a majority of the population identify as communists, or at least support communist ideas. Additionally, communism runs the risk of being a tyranny of the majority if it is not instituted in a way that values

  • @wcropp1 Marx since their inception. Leninism is essentially a regression from Marxism back towards utopian socialists a la Louis Blanqui--an authoritarian coup in the name of the proletariat is not the same thing as a social revolution. The liberation of the working class is a job for the workers themselves. It is fine for a minority group to disseminate information, organize, and agitate, but that's where it ends--"People's" Revolutions, Parties, or Government that do not represent the

  • An organized vanguard is all fine and dandy but when that vanguard attempts to take power, that's another story altogether and where my support for authoritarian Marxists ceases and turns into hostility and opposition. I support freedom and equality but you can't have one without the other and equality enforced from above is not equality at all. Leninism and all its various offshoots are the cancer of the communist movement and have been criticized by genuine Marxists that actually understood
